Patsy, my deepest condolences to you and your family on your loss. Though I did not know him well I admired his straight forth attitude. You always knew where you stood with him. May you find comfort and peace with your family.

Patsy, Randy and family ~ I am so sorry for your loss; you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Find comfort in all the great memories that you all should have. My sister and I still talk about our trip to Lubbock and spending the day with you both while visiting all of the great sites in the Lubbock area. The grandkids also share with me the fun that they have had spending time with "Mops & Pops".

Love and prayers for this marvelous family, while you will miss his presence for awhile, you can count on spending eternity together praising the Lord. That is our blessed hope. I couldn’t begin to pick out one of the thousands of memories I have of our 17 years Orbin and I spent pastoring Ropesville Church of the Nazarene. The Smith family is a major part of all of them. The church is still there because of John’s leadership and support during the lean years, and he instilled that in his children and grandchildren that you still see today. His legacy lives on. And it’s not just in Ropes, John was kind and paid attention to others of my family. My sister’s family from New Mexico visited occasionally and they were always welcomed and loved as part of the church family. They too, have fond memories. So John’s legacy reaches out.

We carry a sense of great loss with the passing of John. We knew John as a kind gentleman living as an fine example of Christ's love. He was an absolute delight to be around and served as a fine mentor full of wisdom. We rejoice in his journey's next and final stop. We share sweet memories with the Smith family with our three generations of friendship.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
