The family of John D. “Hoot” Gibson will host a gathering of family and friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate his life of 88 years will follow at 2:00 PM., with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. He died on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. John D. Gibson was born September 24, 1934, to J.D. and Nellie (Wisdom) Gibson in Dotson, TX. He married Sharon Elbert on September 26, 1953, by a judge at a dance in Wellington, TX. John graduated from Texas Tech University and went on to become a State Farm Insurance Agent/Manager where he received many accolades until his retirement at the age of 70. His passion was God, family, traveling, landscaping, sports, wild canasta, and his westies.
Mr. Gibson is survived by the love of his life, Sharon Gibson; daughters, Nannette (Raymond) Pectol; Danine (Robert) Boszor, and Denuelle Gibson; grandchildren, Wil (Joy) Leftwich, Monique Cupak, Shelby Boszor, and Ariel Gibson (Shayna Boyd); great-grandchildren, Emma Kay Levya, Ashlyn Smith, Gracie Rene Leftwich, Wezly Carper, Abigail Leftwich, and Lily Leftwich; great-great-grandchildren, Stella Smith, Elliot Smith, and Ezra Smith; sisters, Mary (Donald) White, and Helen (Larry) Gollihugh; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Nellie Gibson; granddaughter, Heidi Carper; sisters, Bernice Needham and Marie Black; and brother, Charlie Gibson.
