Joe was born on July 10, 1931 to Claud and Erma (West) Barclay in Afton, TX. He graduated from Spur High School, and then served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from military service, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the Saddle Tramps. On February 14, 1956 he married Margie Lou Campbell in Spur, TX. Joe was an entrepreneur, and was involved in many different business partnerships during his career. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. Joe enjoyed fly fishing, golf and playing jokes on his friends. He loved the mountains and the river in Gunnison, CO, but more than anything, he loved his family and his friends and will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Winston Barclay. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Margie Barclay, two daughters, Shella Barclay and husband Steve Warren of Lubbock, and Kara Rude and husband Donald of Spur, a grandson, Tyler Barclay Rude, a sister-in-law, Dot Barclay of Midland, nine nieces and nephews, and numerous great and great- great nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested in Joe’s honor to a charity of your choice.
