Jitana “Tona” Pettigrew

It was our greatest honor to escort our Mom to the gates of Heaven. Jesus met her there and, without a doubt, greeted her by saying, “well done, my good and faithful servant.”The family of Jitana Pettigrew will celebrate her life of 65 years at 10:00 pm on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Church on the Rock-South Campus. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. In support of the health of his family, face coverings are mandatory while attending the service. You are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy on this page.Jitana “Tona” Pettigrew was born to Gene and Betty Pettigrew on January 29, 1955. She went to Heaven to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 16, 2021.Tona’s greatest desire in life was that everyone she knew and loved would come to know Jesus, and she worked tirelessly until they did. Her passion was riding and training barrel horses.  She was a teacher and a mentor to many.Those left to carry on her legacy is her husband Perry Whetstone; father, Gene Pettigrew of San Antonio; daughter, Cydnee and husband Wayne Scarborough; son, Shawn Gray and wife Aaron, all of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Savanna Scarborough of Mississippi, Austin Parsons, Madisyn Scarborough, Kaden, Kellyn, and Kase Gray, all of Lubbock; brother, Doug, and wife Ruth Pettigrew of San Antonio; nephew, Taylor, and wife Tai Pettigrew and great-niece, Lilli Tru of Tatum, NM.Tona was preceded by her mother, Betty Pettigrew.
