Jimmy “Sonny” Pevey Jr.’s family will celebrate his life of 54 years at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28. 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A time of fellowship will immediately follow his service. He passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. In support of his family’s health, face coverings are mandatory while attending the service. The service will be live-streamed on this page, where you are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy.On February 28, 1966, Jimmy was born to Jimmy and Dean Pevey, Sr. in Dallas, Texas. He was raised in Lubbock, Texas, surrounded by his family and abundance of friends. “Sonny” attended school at Arnett Benson, Roosevelt, Mackenzie, and Coronado High School.He was a painter by trade and fisherman by choice. “Sonny” loved car races of all kinds and spent many Friday and Saturday nights at the racetrack. He loved playing foosball with friends and enjoyed hanging out with family and friends.On July 21, 1995, he became the proud father of Lindsey Gail Pevey. “Sonny” enjoyed watching his nephew Justin grow up, and they had a special bond. He adored his great-nephew, Aidden, and during the past two years, “Sonny” spent his time caring for his mother. He was always a protector of his sister, Hollie, anytime she needed him.Survivors include his daughter, Lindsey Pevey; mother, Dean Pevey; sister, Hollie (Earl) Hopkins; nephew, Justin Griffith; step-nephew, Dillon Hopkins; step-niece, Courtney Hopkins; step-niece, Bethany Horn; and great-nephew, Aidden Griffith. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Buck and Elise Pevey, and his maternal grandparents, Merel and Bernice Moore.
