Jimmie Braxton Cannon, 72, of Lubbock, TX passed away on June 13th, 2024. Jimmie was born in Tulia, TX on February 13, 1952, to Braxton Tolbert and Ivy May Cannon. He went to school at Estacado High School and worked at Lubbock Poster, which later became Martin Outdoor Advertising and Lamar Outdoor Advertising. He also worked at MBCI as well as Nix Electric.
He met his wife Patricia when they were children, but they reconnected later as adults, and after proposing, proposing again, and proposing yet again, they were finally married on August 23, 1980. Soon there were three, as their son, Jimmy Dale Cannon, was born on June 4, 1981. Jimmie was a loving and devoted father, who spent countless hours fixing bikes, go-karts, and cars, and teaching his son to do the same. He helped lead the Boy Scouts and drove the church bus for Wayne Avenue Baptist Church. Whatever his son was involved in, Jimmie found a way to help. He was supportive of his wife Pat’s many endeavors and was usually found right beside her, joining in, and lending a hand. He was smitten, of course, when, in April 2012, his granddaughter Elizabeth was born, and again, in October 2014, when his grandson Patrick was born.
Jimmie is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Sarah Cannon, and their children, Angel, Elizabeth, and Patrick. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Kinder, his brother, Wayne Cannon and wife Sherri, and his sister, Sharen Cannon; his nephews, Craig Kinder and Shawn Cannon; niece, Tiffany Holt; great-niece, Cheyenne Kinder, and great-nephews, Braden and Logan Holt, and Elijah Cannon.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Cannon, his parents, B.T. and Ivy Cannon, and brother-in-law, David Kinder.
