Jim Swindle, affectionately known as Uncle Jim or Jimbo passed away Friday, February 9, 2018. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 68 years on Monday, February 12, 2018, at 11 a.m., at Southcrest Baptist Church. Viewing will be Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd Street.
Jim was born on August 16, 1948, to Billy and Roma (Clemmer) Swindle in Dimmitt, Texas. He grew up in Hart Texas, graduated from Hart High School and attended West Texas State University. On December 16, 1994, he married Altah Hale in Lubbock, Texas. They shared a special bond together, not only as husband and wife but each other’s best friends. Jimbo promised Altie he would make her laugh every day, and he lived up to his promise! He was a craftsman and enjoyed creating memories through his talent building special requests for those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Altah Swindle; son, Gregory Swindle of Abilene; mother, Roma Lee Swindle of Plainview; sister, Margaret Leigh Dorman of Wheeler; brother, Jerry Dee Swindle of Sweetwater; nieces and nephews who loved him as a father, along with numerous great-nieces and nephews that he adored.
