Jim Turner, age 80, met his Lord and Savior face-to-face Thursday, August 12, 2021. No one met Jim and left unchanged. He was unwavering in his love of country and love of the Lord. He had strong opinions and told you what he thought…whether or not you wanted him to. He took stunning photos of nature and loving photos of his family. He was passionate about travel, his grandchildren, photography, good coffee, and playing golf. He taught his daughters how to mow the yard, make Butterfinger ice cream, shingle a roof, and love their momma. He taught his grandchildren how to drink good coffee, play chess, and believe in themselves. How do you ever say “thank you” for a lifetime of memories? You remember the one who taught you how to talk to complete strangers, how to have an adventurous spirit, how to love people and encourage them in their passions, and how to live life to the fullest. You tell his stories while eating chocolate pie and drinking a good, strong cup of coffee. You carry your baby to bed after they fall asleep. You love dogs. You play a round of golf…and putt-putt totally counts! You respect our country, our flag, and other people. You share the books he loved. You share the Jesus he loved. And you thank God for the 80 years He gave our Jim on this earth. On September 19, 1940, Jimmy Dale Turner was born to W. D. and Gladys (Gregory) Turner in Littlefield, TX.
