The family of Jerry Smith will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, September 26th, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. On July 21, 1947, Jerry Wayne was born to Joseph and Ruby Smith in Tennessee. He married Leigh Kackley on March 10, 2012, in Lubbock, Tx.  Jerry retired from the United States Air Force in 1991, as a Sr. Master Sergeant E-8, after 26 years of service.  He served in the Vietnam war and was stationed all over the world from Turkey to Spain to Alaska. His specialty was sheet metal fabricating.  He started working for Armstrong Mechanical in 1994 and retired in August of 2019.

Survivors include his wife, Leigh Kackley Smith; children, Katrina (Gary) Walker, Kelly (Mary) Moore, Annyce (Royce) Price, Michelle Smith (daughter in law, widow to son Jeremy Smith); grandchildren, McKenna (Jeromey) Williams, Lauryn Walker, Eric (Zoey) Martinez, Jaden Walker, Kaleb Smith, Alex Martinez, Braedyn Walker, Adrianna Martinez, Ethan Martinez, Karson Smith, Landrie Price; great-grandchildren, Mitchell Martinez, Owen Martinez; siblings, Vanuel Smith, and Billy Smith.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Smith; father, Joseph Smith; mother, Ruby Smith; sister, Connie Pomeroy; brother, Jimmy Smith; and sister, Ann Mathis.


The family of Jerry Smith has designated the Wounded Warriors Project for memorial contributions donated in his memory.
