Roma was born in New Home, Texas on January 13th, 1938. She attended Cooper High School and graduated from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. Jerry was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on February 19, 1936. Jerry also attended Texas Tech, West Texas A&M, and Wayland Baptist University. Roma and Jerry were married on September 2nd, 1960, and had two children, Steffanie and Lee. Jerry pastored several churches across Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. Roma and Jerry were active members of Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock. After completing his calling of spreading the word of God, he eventually would have a career driving a semi-truck for over 20 years. Jerry loved his family, Christ, and meeting new people. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and learning new things. Roma began her career path as an English teacher. She worked for the Southern Baptist Convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and eventually worked in the financial aid office at Wayland Baptist University. Being a talented singer, she recorded a gospel album in 1977 titled “Roma”. She was also a dedicated follower of Christ and loved everybody she met. Roma also loved her family, singing, and playing piano. Jerry and Roma were married for 63 loving years. Roma was called home to Christ on December 25th shortly followed by Jerry on December 26th.

Jerry and Roma are survived by their children and their spouses, Steffanie and Todd Fulcher, Lee and Stephanie Haley; grandchildren, Brecken and Vanessa Bain, Whitney Bain, and 3 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jeremiah, and Hudson; Jerry’s siblings and their spouses, Kenneth and Faith Haley, Charles and Mary Haley, Vicki and Jimmy Hadaway, Sherry Burich, Randy Rogers, Mark and Lauren Rogers, and many nieces and nephews.

They were preceded in death by Jerry’s siblings and parents, Gordon Haley, Wilda Rogers, and stepfather Curly Rogers, and Roma’s siblings and parents, Cornelius and Edna Brewer.

How Paul and I love both of you. My best time with Roma was the trip to your nieces wedding in Lubbock, especially when we got caught in rainstorm she drove car parked it under awning in the middle of nowhere for an hour and a half, we laughed: cried and of course talked about our husbands, kids. Will see you both in heaven friends. God bless you Stephanie and Lee.

Stephanie, Lee … We don’t know you. But we were in the car crash . We were shattered to know about uncle Jerry and aunt Roma . But we are sure that they are in heaven with our Lord . Praising god for their lives and all the work they did for the lord . We are praying for your family that you will be able to find gods peace that passeth all understanding in this difficult situation of life.

Jerry & Roma lead us in preaching at South Park Baptist Church in Lubbock, many years ago (36). My son had his baby dedication there & Roma sang. (My son just turned 38). My brother was in the hospital near Dallas. He had to have his leg amputated. Jerry rode his motorcycle down, and rather than let us know he was there so that we could offer him a hotel room or place to sleep, he pitched a tent in the hospital parking lot to sleep. They were such truly amazing friends. I later was blessed to spend time with Roma as I returned to school at the Wayland campus in Lubbock where she was the financial aid go to person. We live near the scene of their accident. We had no idea of who was involved, but our hearts hurt deeply when we were made aware. Our love & prayers go out to you all. Heaven is rejoicing ❤️❤️

Lee and Stephanie, I'm heartbroken to hear of your loss. Your parents were very kind and loving to all of us. Growing up in Sundown with your family was a blessing. Jerry was an awesome preacher and Roma had the most amazing voice. I talked to Roma a few years ago and got a few of her CD's (my mom had her album and wanted the CD as did I and my aunt). We will cherish her album always! Thank you both for sharing your parents with so many of us and allowing us to love them. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I pray God wraps you in peace and comfort.

Roma was one of the sweetest person I ever new. I went to church and school with her and her sister Daloma we had the most fun at all our sleep overs, an going to church on Sunday with her Dad trying to make us go to sleep. So we could get up for church. We never missed a Sunday at Sunday nigh that was their life Church. Prayers their family.

My name is Stephanie Jackman-Haley. I am the daughter in law of Jerry and Roma Haley. I want to say that they were wonderful people and I will miss them but will never forget them. May they rest on power in heaven.

Jerry and Roma will be greatly missed. Their service to the Lord Jesus Christ will not go unnoticed now or in eternity. Jerry was very instrumental is me coming to accept the Lord Jesus as my own Saviour back in 1975. May the Lord bless their family and friends.

Uncle Jerry and Aunt Roma were such lovely people. The love they had for eachother, their children, and everyone, radiated like a bright light. I remember when I was about 7, Uncle Jerry would tell me funny stories and jokes and would make me laugh, and he gave me my first few rides on his Harley. It was scary exciting! He really loved his Harley. And Aunt Roma was the sweetest. She always made sure everyone was happy and made sure no one needed anything. She was always kind and loving. A beautiful lovely lady. Their presence will truly be missed. But knowing they're together in heaven is comforting. May God bless this family, and pour his love, peace, and comfort over us all, especially their children during this difficult time. Amen🕊❤️🙏

I am praying for your family, and all those who are feeling this loss. Your parents were amazing people who touched the lives of those around them more than you will ever know. I owe all of my happiness to Roma and Jerry. When I was ten they helped to lead me to the Lord. On the day I was baptized, my dying brother accepted the Lord. Jerry and Roma helped me navigate my brother’s death, and my parent’s spiral into drug use. Roma’s influence led me to Wayland Baptist University which provided me the perfect backdrop to heal from my childhood trauma. They also introduced me to my husband of 34 years. All that I am today, stemmed from the unconditional love they showed a broken, scared little girl. Jerry and Roma have always been my angels.

Jerry & Roma….There’s no way to describe their influence or their love for Christ. I’ve had the distinct privilege of working with Roma @ WBU/Lubbock Campus.,something I will always cherish. GOD I pray for their families, please keep your arms around them, comfort and & love them. I’m been blessed by their friendship.

So sorry to hear of this horrible event! When I was in eighth grade in Floydada, Roma was our youth Director. We all loved her and Jerry so much. My heart breaks to hear the situation that led to Jerry and Roma’s death. My condolences go to their family!

So Sorry to hear of Jerry and Roma death through this tragic car accident. Once when I was preaching in Sundown, I had “eye” surgery. Jerry drove me to Sundown, Texas, stayed for the church service, and then drove me back to Lubbock. I will always be grateful for his help. Thank you. Stephen Gilliam

Jerry & Roma were very special people in mine & our families lives. From the time Jerry was our Pastor @ Edmonson First Baptist Church, Roma with her Angelic voice singing in our church quartet to even after when they left for another church, our lives were Blessed to have had them in. Roma sang a beautiful song at my father’s funeral, & we remained in touch for the years to follow. Heaven is now enjoying them, their laughter , smile & her beautiful voice.

Roma and Jerry were the salt of the earth. Fine people who would give anyone the shirt of their back? They loved and were greatly loved! They will be missed so very much.

Jerry was our pastor in Edmonson, Texas in ‘77 and later attended church with us at Calvary Baptist here in Lubbock. Jerry and Roma were really dedicated to spreading the gospel and were always an uplifting pleasure to be around. I always knew Jerry was spreading the gospel to many that might not hear it otherwise rolling his 18 wheeler up and down the interstates. They were both a real blessing! Richard & Joy Jones

Sending our prayers and deepest condolences to the Haley family. My parents, Carrol Herring and Marcia Polsgrove, had known Roma and Jerry since their earliest days in the ministry. Roma and my Mom remained in touch throughout Mother's life. I had the honor of hosting Roma and Daloma at my home during their visit to DFW several years back. The ladies all gathered around the piano and sang beautiful hymns and laughed together remembering younger days. Roma had a beautiful voice and she was beautiful inside and out. May they rest in peace with the Lord.

I remember the first time I met Jerry and roma I was around 11 we went to church at county line roma was my special lady when it came to music. She had the voice of an angel. Jerry was the one who lifted our spirits they made church fun. Stephanie I remember my sister Edith and I babysat when you were little. You were a precious girl.
