Jerilyn Sue Carter Laramore 79, of Lubbock, Texas, entered into eternal life on March 12th, 2024.
Mrs. Laramore was born on November 12th, 1944, in Phillips, Texas, to Lorene Gertrude Hall Carter and Gearld Lovera Carter Sr. Mrs. Laramore graduated from Pampa High School in 1963. She married the love of her life, Gary Blake Laramore Sr. on October 7th, 1964, in the First Baptist Church Chappell, Amarillo, Texas.
Jerilyn attended West Texas State University and majored in music education, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967 and Master of Arts degree in 1970. She was a twirler in “The Sound of West Texas” band. During her illustrious teaching career, she enriched the lives and instilled the love of music in thousands of elementary students in Canyon, Stratford and Panhandle. She was an amazing piano player and taught thousands of private lessons over the years.
Mrs. Laramore’s family remembers her as a faithful wife of 59 years and a devoted, loving, supportive mother and grandmother. Her most treasured memories revolve around trips to Red River, NM. with her family on vacation. She also treasured Carter family reunions and laughed so much with her aunts, uncles and cousins. Many called her “Sweet Jerilyn”, she was the oldest of 27 grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Gearld Lovera Carter, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Blake Laramore Sr., a son, Gary B. Laramore, Jr. and his wife Stacie of Iraan, TX., two grandsons, Carter Blake Laramore, and wife Elizabeth of Lubbock, TX., Andrew Mason Laramore of Lubbock, TX., one granddaughter, Makenzie Reagan Laramore of Abilene, TX., brother-in-law James “Wink” Cross and sister-in-law Karan Cross of Pampa, TX., sister-in-law Rene Carter Baker of Amarillo, nephew Preston Cross and wife Emily of Surprise, AZ., nieces Kerri Harris of Pampa, Tx., Jessica Cowan and husband Chris of Mount Pleasant, SC., and Bethany Fields and husband Russell of Amarillo, TX., and numerous special extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at Lakeridge Chappell in Lubbock on Thursday, March 14th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and then travel to Memorial Garden in Pampa for a family and friends burial at 2:00PM on Friday, March 15th.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, March 21st @ Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, with Pastor Josh Light officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made out to, Missions @ Southcrest Baptist Church, Lubbock, TX.
