The family moved to Lubbock in 1949, when Jeanie was 8 years old. Her father was employed by Braniff Airlines as the lead agent. He had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. They became members of College Avenue Baptist Church at tenth street and College Avenue. Later the name of the street was changed to University Avenue and the name of the church became University Baptist Church. She attended Sunday School there and Vacation Bible School. It was in Vacation Bible School that she accepted Jesus as her Savior. She graduated from Monterey High School in 1958 and the following summer she married the love of her life, E.L. Green on June 21, 1958. For many years Jean Ann worked as the church secretary of University Baptist Church. In 1995 the small church disbanded, and the entire congregation voted to merge into First Baptist Church, Lubbock. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly call her “Grammy” or “Great Grammy”.We would like to express special thanks to the Joy Sunday School class for their prayers and support.
