Jean Ann Green

The family of Jeannie Green will celebrate her life of 81 years at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Lubbock. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She passed on September 23, 2021. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign her virtual guestbook, and download her memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing.Our beloved Jean Ann (Jeannie) Green went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 23, 2021.She was born on July 13, 1940, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Hassel A and Thelma Cone. The family moved to Lubbock in 1949, when Jeanie was 8 years old. Her father was employed by Braniff Airlines as the lead agent. He had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.  They became members of College Avenue Baptist Church at tenth street and College Avenue. Later the name of the street was changed to University Avenue and the name of the church became University Baptist Church. She attended Sunday School there and Vacation Bible School. It was in Vacation Bible School that she accepted Jesus as her Savior.She graduated from Monterey High School in 1958 and the following summer she married the love of her life, E.L. Green on June 21, 1958. For many years Jean Ann worked as the church secretary of University Baptist Church. In 1995 the small church disbanded, and the entire congregation voted to merge into First Baptist Church, Lubbock.Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly call her “Grammy” or “Great Grammy”.We would like to express special thanks to the Joy Sunday School class for their prayers and support. We also thank the Legacy at South Plains for the kind and gentle care, as well as Interim Home Health Care.She was preceded in death by her parents, Hassel and Thelma Cone, and a brother, Thomas A. Cone.She is survived by her beloved husband, E.L. Green. Her three sons, Chuck Green, Gary Green, and Tim Green (Jamie); six grandchildren, McKenna Elston (Connor), Haylee Gregory (Justin), Rilee Davis, Chase Green, Jett Green, and Jake Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Ryker Elston and Blake Gregory.
