We are so sorry for your loss. Jerry was two years ahead of me but he was someone that all of us looked up to. He was a good friend and he will be missed. He always had a smile. His father’s nickname for me was “Little Bit” or “Halfpint”. Dottie Berg and James Storey

Saturday, March 26, 2023 Dearest Diedre, Amy, Mark and Family members, Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you today during this difficult time in your lives. You already know how very dear Jerry and Freda have been to us for the past 65 years. The memories have always been our favorite ones…Sul Ross, double-dating, the Lobo football games, dances, good times throughout our last two years in college. Of course, we were in the beautiful weddings of each couple…in the summer of 1959 in Brownfield as bridesmaid & groomsman in your parents’ wedding, and in Feb., 1960, in Odessa for Bill’s and my wedding as our attendants/best friends once more. My wedding pictures of all of us are so special. I want to have several copies made for you children…how handsome/beautiful, and YOUNG Freda & Jerry were!!! It’s hard to believe our unique friendships remained so strong throughout the past 65+ years! Bill and Jerry loved to reminisce about our dating days…Jerry told so many funny stories that brought back memories of those “golden years” we were all together. Bill & I cherish every single one of them. We truly wanted to be with all of you today, Diedre, Amy and Mark, but we hope you understand how difficult the 350-mile trip from Cleburne to Lubbock would be…at ages 91+ and 83+, we realized it would not be wise to travel that far. We will watch the memorial service though, and will shed our tears with you as you remember your wonderful dad. Please, please give your mother a BIG hug for os…maybe a little spark will bring back our times together. My mother and dad are buried out in Resthaven cemetary there in Lubbock, and now include times we spent with them and with Freda and Jerry in Lubbock. We will always love each of you, your mother and the precious memories of your dad JERRY. 🙏❤️😇 With all our love and prayers, Glenda and Bill

Such a kind and patient teacher. I had him for math at Abilene High School, and he helped me get through geometry, with much kindness and skill. As I read his obituary, I realized that Harriet is his granddaughter and I taught her art at Trinity in Austin. Such an amazing circle. Sending my sympathy and prayers.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Amy, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family after reading about your father's passing. I enjoyed driving his black Chevy Blazer he sold me for several years. May God be with each of you and bless you during this time of sorrow. Jon Mize

I am just heartbroken at the loss of this great man. He was such a wonderful friend and mentor and I'm so thankful I caught him at the office a couple years ago when I was in Lubbock. He had a contagious smile that looked like he was always up to something. While his loss will be felt by so very many, nothing compares to the loss of his family. Likewise, none have the pleasure of so many wonderful memories to hold onto until we all meet again in glory. Our deepest condolences to all.

I'm sorry to hear the passing of my friend Jerry Thormahlen. He will be missed! He was always Happy and Smiling. I travel to Lubbock for a business meeting and Jerry met me at the terminal gate with a sign saying: Oscar Big Money is in town! It was a surprise to me. I will never forget him.

I was fortunate to grow up with Jerry from playing in the front yard thru high school. When we graduated we thought our class was special and it was because of Jerry’s influence. After graduation during our many “gatherings “ Jerry always told those “stories “ some of which were actually true, but it was always obvious that of all his many accomplishments he was always the most proud of his family. Jerry was my friend then and will always be and I will miss him
