Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 82 years on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at 10 AM at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.
James was born on November 11, 1935 to James S. and Willie (Lanier) Hill in Collin County, TX. He served in the Marine Corps from 1954-1958. On October 7, 1961, James married the love of his life, Carolyn Dunagan in Lubbock. He worked as a farmer and then became a millwright for Ralston Purina for a number of years, after which he started his own millwright business, where he found much success. Following his retirement, Jim continued to work as a consultant for several companies across the state. Jim always enjoyed attending New Deal ISD events and activities. He was a devoted fan, and he definitely added meaning to the term Lion Pride. One of his favorite hobbies was “schooling” people on how to play 42! He was known to everyone as a hard working, honest man.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of New Deal; three sons, Max Hill and wife Angelee, Mark Hill, and Matt Hill and wife Julie, all of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Rylea and Rhett Hill; six step-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Harrell and husband Jim of Colorado City, and Lana Harrison and husband Ronnie of GA; one brother, Jacky Hill and wife Jane of Brenham; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Bill, Jerry, Ray and Dennis Hill, and sister, Sharon Pickard.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Joe Arrington Cancer Center, 4101 22nd Pl, Lubbock, TX 79410.
