Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of James from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Celebration services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, in Lake Ridge Chapel. Mr. Whitehead died April 12, 2011.James was born on April 2, 1962, in Miami, Fla., to Mr. James A. Whitehead Sr. and Mrs. Janice E. Whitehead. He trusted Jesus Christ as his personal savior, and was baptized at the age of 10. James graduated from Central Senior High School, Capital Heights, Md., in 1980. He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1984 with a BBA in Management. He also attended Texas Tech University and Hardin-Simmons University, where he successfully completed the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps. Program and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant. He lived in Freeport, Ill., Dallas and Austin for the past 20 years. He was actively involved in the arts, business and religious communities in Austin. His interests included photography, travel, physical fitness, reading and creative writing.Survivors include his parents; a sister, Patricia Johnson and husband Roy of Lubbock; two brothers, Gerald Whitehead and wife Brigitte of Ventura, CA, and Jonathan Whitehead and wife Linda of Dallas; four nephews; four nieces; a grand-nephew and three grand-nieces; along with a host of relatives and friends.To send your condolences to James’ family and view his life tribute, visit www.memorialdesigners.net.
