Jacob Marcus Criswell died peacefully in his sleep the morning of November 10, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on June 4, 1996 in Amarillo, and lived most of his life in Canyon. He graduated from Canyon High School in 2015, and received a Certificate from WTAMU in 2019. Jacob was a loving soul who touched everyone who knew him with a smile, kindness, and humility. A better soul was never born.
He was a lifelong fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Tech Red Raiders. It was such a joy for him to be able to see the Texas Rangers win the World Series in his last days, and he was interred in his favorite Texas Rangers jersey. Perhaps this will be the year his beloved (yet disappointing) Dallas Cowboys will win a Super Bowl for him. He was always so positive about his teams. “I think this is our year” was a conversation he had with his dad at the beginning of every season.
He was a proud employee of United Supermarkets and Ace Hardware in Canyon, and was a common sight walking to work along the streets of Canyon. At the time of his diagnosis, he was living in Eastland, Texas.
He is survived by his mother, Cindy Criswell, his dad Randy Criswell, “stepmom” Janie Criswell, sister Carli Hassel and husband Chris, stepsisters Kaylie Murray and husband Isaiah, and Faith Seymour and fiance’ Sean Bemis, his grandmothers Joan Criswell and Kay Altman, step-grandfather Jessie Soliz, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jacob was preceded in death by his grandfathers Marcus Criswell and Bobby Altman and his step grandmother Mimi Nelson.
