Ippy Neil Greer passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015. A ceremony to celebrate his life of 67 years is scheduled for Sunday, January 3, 2016, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A tribute of Ippy’s life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for his family.Ippy Neil Greer was born on November 14, 1948 to Ishmael and Doris Marney Greer in Borger, Texas. His love of creating started when he was a young man, channeled through playing guitar, painting, and illustrating. His eldest daughter, Jennifer, was born on his 22nd birthday. Ippy and family lived in Springfield, Missouri for about 20 years, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Missouri State University. Ippy later moved to Lubbock, Texas, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts degree at Texas Tech University and met the love of his life, Allison Jane Black. They were married January 27, 2001. Ippy was an Associate Professor at South Plains College for thirteen years, where he taught drawing, painting, and Art History. He enjoyed classes in blue grass mandolin and vocal performing, and was able to perform with a small blue grass group from South Plains College. Ippy was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his wife, Allison Black; their children, Jennifer Greer, Sean Scully, Lauren Scully and husband, Dr. Gerardo Aguilar Molinari, Patrick Scully and wife, Cassie; siblings, Nancy Blake and husband, Keith, Cynthia Moore, Charles Reynolds and wife, Linda.
