Ida Llewellyn Taylor passed away Friday, January 26, 2018. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 84 years today, January 30, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Oakwood United Methodist Church with a reception to follow.
Ida was born on February 19, 1933, to John and Mary (Williard) Tansey in Beaumont, TX. While attending college in Jacksonville, TX, Ida met the love of her life, Samuel Preston Taylor and they married on December 24, 1953 in Tyler, TX. They moved to Lubbock in 1969 from Houston. Ida was a homemaker and her life centered on her family. She enjoyed flowers, fishing and traveling. Her travels allowed her to visit many countries around the world. She was an active member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and volunteered in the community at Meals on Wheels and Child Protective Services.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, Wayne Tansey.
Ida is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Samuel Preston Taylor; a son, Gary Preston Taylor and wife, Lisa of Ft. Worth; daughter, Gayle Sims and husband, Eric of Lubbock; six grandchildren, John Preston Taylor and wife, Lynda; Jeffrey Craig Taylor and wife, Stacy; Dusty Sims and wife, Courtney; Tyler Sims and wife, Lauren; and Samantha Sims; five great-grandchildren, Bennett Preston Taylor, Reese Allanah Taylor, Julian Caden Taylor, Lyla Sims, and Milo Taylor Douglass; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Tansey of Houston.
