Horace Anglin was born May 12, 1926, to Henry Clay and Maude Lou (Crosby) Anglin in Lubbock County.
Horace served in the Army’s 4th Infantry Division Military Police in Frankfurt, Germany 1950-1952. This is where he met the love of his life Waltraud “Val” Liebig. Horace loved to tell that he had been married three times but to the same woman! They were married on August 21, 1952, under German law, then at the American Consulate, then a church wedding!
Horace worked the family farm along with a small dairy farm while employed with Lubbock County driving a maintainer. He went to work for the Lubbock Fire Department on October 1, 1955. During his 29 years with the fire department, he was promoted to driver, lieutenant, captain, and district chief and retired as deputy chief of operations in February 1986. He was asked to serve as interim fire chief until August 1986.
Those left to cherish his memory include children Dorene Anglin, Karl Anglin and wife, Bonnie, and Karen Williams; grandchildren Robert Anglin and wife, Jenny, Jennifer Goswick and husband, Rayland, Morgan Parrott and husband, Waylon, Monica Yett, Brian Williams and wife, Mariah, and Rachel Marsh and husband, Randy; great-grandchildren, Carson Goswick, Hannah and Elizabeth White, Brooks Parrott, Wyatt, and Opal Anglin, and Elijah and Grayson Williams.
