Hong Y. Lee passed away on January 10, 2019. A service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers in Lubbock, Texas. A reception will immediately follow. Hong was born in 1934 in Seoul, Korea. He immigrated to the U.S. to attend college and graduate school, receiving his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics. He was a professor of Agricultural Economics at Texas Tech University. Upon retirement from Tech, he taught at Seoul National University as part of the Fulbright Program, then returned to Lubbock. He was active in the Kiwanas Club and an avid sports fan. His survivors include his wife, Yum; his children, Henry (Melissa) Lee, Mimi (Ben) Rodman, and Mia (Cole) McKenzie; and his grandchildren, Michael, Meredith, Samuel, Carolyn, and Ian.
