Guy Dempsey

Guy Allen Dempsey passed away peacefully on April 27, 2024, surrounded by those who love him most. Guy was born September 23, 1966, to Keith and Sharon Dempsey in Lubbock, TX.

He grew up playing baseball, football, and was involved in Cub Scouts. He graduated with honors from Monterey High School in 1985. Just before graduation, Guy took his first stock race car to the dirt track where he continued racing for several years. He began his college education at Texas Tech University in 1985 where he studied Architecture. Guy had been learning and working on his Daddy’s trucks from the time he was 13 years old. He loved to fix the problem, get the engine running, and get the truck back on the road. Guy entered the workforce as a diesel mechanic, where he was able to further his education and worked as a Master Diesel Engine Mechanic for many years. He took some time away from the shop to get in the truck and hit the road. He hauled for many years, while still working on projects here and there. He ultimately ended up back in his own shop, opening his own business, Guy’s Truck and Trailer Repair. He dreamed of building his own shop after working in the dirt for 30+ years. Working on trucks is what he loved the most. Anyone who knew Guy knew he was the smartest man in the room, a talented artist, a precise bag folder, could fix anything and willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He answered his phone at all hours to help his friends and truckers in a bind. He took many in under his wing to learn how the mechanic the right way and will always be remembered as a good friend.

He is preceded in death by his father, Keith Dempsey and brothers, Keith Dempsey Jr., Bobby Dempsey, and David Dempsey.

Guy is survived by his mother, Sharon Dempsey; sister, Lanann Dempsey; children, Marcus (Christy) Dempsey, Kristin (Ryan) Dill; and grandchildren, Avery Arthur, Brason Dill, Braxton Dill, Brody Dill, Averie Blair, Brecken Dill, Brooks Dill, Kennedy Dempsey. Guy loved his grandchildren and swelled with pride to tell his friends about each one of them. Guy is also survived by his girlfriend, Stacney Martin.

The family of Guy Allen Dempsey will host a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 01, 2024, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate his life of 57 years is scheduled at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, followed by a graveside service at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.
