I knew Glenda Kay because she was the oldest of my 16 first cousins on my daddy’s side of the family. Her daddy was my daddy’s older brother. She and another cousin Judy used to come to visit my family and I when they were both teenagers. My daddy was a pastor and we were the only family members in my daddy’s family that did not live in and around Lubbock. Texas. My daddy Bob Harris , being a pastor served in several different church in Texas, Oklahoma, and another church in California. As a family, my parents and my sister and I would always come at Thanksgiving and Christmas and love to get be with my mom and daddy’s family. My sister and I several summers would come by bus to visit both sets of grandparents in Lubbock. Glenda was the most beautiful girl and I loved her auburn red hair. I always wanted a child and even later a grandchild that had hair the color of Glenda’s hair. She was 10 years older than I was, but I always admired her and even in later years I always loved to see her or getting a chance to talk to her. I had more recent contact with her in the last year and one half when her husband died and I messangered her on Facebook, wrote her a card or two and talked with her on the phone for a while. I thought she was such a wonderful person. I don’t remember much about the times she came to visit us in the summer because my sister and I were much younger. I know my daddy said they helped in Vacation Bible School at whatever church my dad was the pastor of at the time . I know she is in Heaven. It is for her a wonderful family reunion with her husband, her mom and dad. her aunts snd uncles her grandparents and I know of several cousins on my dad’s side of the family that are there also. She is with the Jesus. She was not only beautifull on the outside, but was besutifull on the inside as a person. I will see her again. I am praying for the family members left that will miss her a great deal and for the Lord to comfort them.

Glenda Kay was my cousin, and my friend. We grew up together in the extended Harris family, which means we saw each other every Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday evening throughout childhood and teenage years, plus numerous birthday celebrations, picnics, sleepovers, GA camp, Glorieta conferences. I was in her wedding; she hosted a baby shower for me. As young couples, she and Bobby visited us in El Paso, and later met us in Chicago for a whirlwind visit. Each visit we made to Lubbock included a stop to see Glenda and Bobby. We have seen each other less frequently in the past few years, but the telephone kept us connected. I miss her! I know where she is! I know my sisters, Janet, Lanette, and Karen, were in the crowd welcoming her to Heaven.

My memories of Glenda Kay come from many years ago at Calvary Baptist Church. She was a beautiful lady who served as a role model for many younger women at CBC. Her smile lit up the room, and her gentle personality was vibrant. Her marriage to the handsome Bob Rawls seemed indeed to be a match made in Heaven. I was priviledged to know this amazing lady!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I am so sorry for your loss. My youngest had your Mother as a teacher and she was wonderful. I was then blessed to know both your Mom and Dad socially because I worked with your Dad. You can be very proud of both your parents!
