Geraldine Bernice Shrum was born September 18, 1925, in Putnam, Texas to Floyd and Bethel Smith. She married Curtis Shrum on March 31, 1946. She was a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Shrum, brother Bud Smith, and parents, Floyd and Bethel Smith. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Geneva Burks; her son, Don Shrum and Ralph Tamper, daughter Jan Hopkins and husband, Barry; five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Gerry loved music and singing in the choir. She also loved bowling and golf. She was an avid sports fan and particularly liked watching the Texas Rangers, Texas Tech, Dallas Cowboys, and Kansas City Chiefs. Most of all, she loved family and friends. She was a loving wife and amazing mother. She always enjoyed being a homemaker.
The family also wants to thank the Grand Court for giving her such happy memories the last few years of life. They also want to thank Covenant Medical Center and Crown Point for their excellent care.
Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Shrum entered into her heavenly home on October 13, 2023, at the age of 98.
