Gayland C. Turnbow

Gayland C. Turnbow was born on March 12, 1949, to Clyde and Lois Turnbow in Seminole, TX.He married Linda Faye Crabtree in Lubbock, Texas on September 27, 1968 and they had 2 sons Todd and Chad Turnbow. He worked for South Plains Electric Cooperative for 37 years and retired so he could spend time with his beloved Linda and family.He was a founding member and faithful elder of The Worship Center church where his son Todd has pastored for over 20 years. Gayland was adored by every person who had the amazing privilege to encounter him. Whether you called him Daddy, Pops, Papa, Papa G, Uncle Gayland, friend or husband you never left his presence without a smile, hug or laugh.He loved spending time with his family, his dog Boudreaux, working on the tractor and watching westerns in his chair. Breakfast was always a good meal at any time of the day and he enjoyed making pancakes for his grandkids when they would spend the night. He never missed any of his grandsons’ ballgames, a family dinner or a Sunday service at The Worship Center.He served God faithfully for almost 40 years and was the perfect example of a man of Faith and Family and anybody who knew him will never forget that.There will be a massive void in the community which he so lovingly and selflessly served and he will be missed more than words can adequately express. He instilled such a strong value of work, family and faith into his sons and grandsons that his legacy will be carried on with pride and love for generations to come.He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Paul, Jerry, and Danny Turnbow, and a sister, Barbara Morgan.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 49 years, Linda, two sons, Todd and wife Tricia and Chad and wife Stefanie, and four beloved grandsons, Hunter, Mason, Jaxon, and Dylan all of Lubbock.Gayland passed away on April 13, 2017.
