Frank Arthur Carlson, 95, formerly of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on September 15, 2021.Frank was born March 1, 1926, in Ogden, Iowa to Selma [Hagberg] and Gus Carlson. He grew up in Odgen and left high school during his junior year to join the US Navy during World War II. He was assigned to the Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Indianapolis where he was trained as a radioman. Following training, he served with the Southwest Pacific Command on Manus island in support of the 7th Fleet.When he returned from service in 1946, Frank was awarded a high school diploma. He attended Boone Junior College and worked for Northern Natural Gas. Then he moved to Waterloo to attend Iowa State Teachers College. It was during this time that he met and married Mary Ann McQuirk on September 1, 1949, at Nashua, Iowa. In 1950 the couple moved to Boulder, CO, where Frank attended the University of Colorado. He graduated in 1952 with a degree in Business Administration.Following graduation, Frank was employed by Shell Oil in Midland, TX. He raised his family in Texas and worked with Shell Oil for 40 years.Frank loved life and his family. He was an avid reader, golfer, bridge player, and member of the Methodist church.Frank is survived by his daughter, Tonalee Key and husband Bob of Hamilton, NJ; son, Frank, and wife Susan of Lubbock, TX; granddaughter, Chelsea Russell and husband Tommy of Lubbock, TX; dear friend Dodie Kelly of Pasadena, TX; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and all his seven siblings.A private burial will be held in Houston.
