Etta Pauline Isbell, Age 88, of Lubbock, Texas peacefully passed away January 5, 2024.
Etta was born November 7, 1935, in Sherman Texas to Paul and Esther Smith. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1954. Etta married Kenneth Isbell and they had four wonderful children together. She and her family lived in Austin and San Antonio where she devoted her life to being a mother. They moved to Lubbock, TX in 1973. While in Lubbock, she worked for the attorney general in the child support office for 20 years. Etta was a dedicated member of Trinity Church and Church on the Rock.
Etta knew Jesus well, spending much of her time in the Word, and witnessing to others. She was our family’s biggest prayer warrior. One of her greatest passions in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family time was always important to her. She loved cooking for us and getting us all together. When Etta became a grandmother she was given the name, Renny Mom, which she embraced wholeheartedly and was happy to hear. We all remember her sprinkling us with God’s JOY from her “joy jar”, and anytime we left her house she would flip her porch lights on and off to signal goodbye and I love you.
Etta is survived by her daughter, Kim Butler and husband Jack, son Scott Isbell and wife Donna, daughter, Suzanne Veretto and husband Rick, son, Barry Isbell and wife Penny. All from Lubbock, Texas.
Her granddaughter Scoti Henderson and husband Brian, granddaughter, Brandi Veretto and husband Rocko, grandson, Josh Isbell and wife Kristina, and four great-grandchildren, Jacks, Pepper, Evan and Pearl Henderson.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Paul and Esther, brother Howard Smith, and granddaughter, Jessica Butler.
Please join the family as we celebrate Etta’s life at Lake Ridge Chapel, Wednesday January 17, 2024, 4:00pm. There will be a private gravesite burial at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, TX.
The family suggests any donations be made to Hospice of Lubbock, Church on the Rock missions department, or your favorite organization or charity in memory of Etta.
