Esther Armenta Pena passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018. Family and friends will gather to recite the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m., Wednesday May 23, 2018 followed by a time of fellowship and remembrance at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 55 years on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.
Esther Pena was born on August 6, 1962 to Beatrice Armenta in Lubbock, Texas. Esther went to Lubbock High School and graduated in 1980. She went to nursing school at South Plains College and earned her Licensed Vocational Nursing degree. Esther started her nursing career in Neonatal ICU at University Medical Center where she worked for 12 years. She went to work at the Department of Pediatrics at the Texas Tech HSC and started working with the C.A.R.E. center under the Child Abuse Division where she worked for the last 21 years. Esther was a nurse for 34 years and always put her patients first and provided great care to each and every one.
Esther loved to cook and was a great baker. She had many talents and interests, but her passion was for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
Survivors include her mother, Beatrice Armenta; maternal aunt, Julia Ramirez; and best friend for over 30 years, Patti Salazar. She is also survived by the Armenta, Cadena, Castellano, Ramirez and Tello families.
