On October 15, 1962, Eduardo was born to Sesario and Eloisa Salas in Lubbock, Texas. He married Maria Hernandez on June 29, 1991, at San Francisco de Assisi Catholic Church in Wolfforth, Texas. Eduardo endured many hardships in life, but always found a way to keep moving forward, something he instilled in each of his children. No matter how hard life got, he always made sure that his family was provided for. He insisted on family Sunday dinners to begin the new weeks on a new foot. He loved fishing, grilling, working on cars, tending to his garden, and doting on his wife and kids. He loved his wife Maria with every ounce of his being and made sure she always knew that. He was a very private man and never wanted anyone to worry about him or what was going on in his personal life, but loved to tell everyone about each of his children and their accomplishments. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and never expected anything in return. He supported each of his kids on every endeavor that they set out on. Eduardo will be remembered as a hard working, supportive, loving, caring, and providing dad, husband, brother, and friend.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Salas of 30 years; their children, Melanie Gonzalez, Eduardo Lee Salas, Ricardo Luis Salas (Ricky), Monica Diane Salas; expectant grand-daughter; siblings, Hortencia and Ferman Ochoa, Sylvia Salas, Margie Grimaldo, Joe and Elsa Salas, Junior Salas, Lucy and Abraham Chavez.

Eduardo is preceded in death by his parents, Sesario and Eloisa Salas, Lupe Villareal, Frank Salas, Tony Salas, and Robbie Salas.

  8. So very sorry for your loss. Having taught at Ropes for so many years, I had the opportunity to get to know so many in your family. It was a privilege to get to know each of you. Bill thought so much of Eddie. Now they can be friends forever. May God give each of you peace and comfort now and in the days ahead. I regret that I will not be able to attend the visitation nor the services.

  11. What an incredible man. He was proud and hard working. And he was fiercely loyal to his family. I could see that even as a young child when we would visit or when they would visit us. I have this specific memory of him making chicharrones in the front yard of their home, and I swore I didn’t like them until I had his. I’m thankful to have known him and to have called him Uncle Eddie. He is so greatly missed.
