The day before Dwight passed away I had left a message with a dear mutual friend, Missy. I was calling to obtain Dwight and Maria's phone number. I had lost my cell phone and wasn't able to recover some of my contacts like theirs. My husband had passed away in November of last year and a Memorial is planned for June. I wanted to know if they were going to be able to travel to Rhode Island for it. If they were I wanted to ask Dwight if he would be the minister for the service for Steve. Dwight and my husband Steve entered Masonry at the same time and with others of that class became closely bonded. Dwight resides in heaven with Steve and all but one other member of that class of brothers. Unfortunately, Dwight has been the youngest of them that have passed but all have died far too young. It is so difficult to say goodbye to a wonderful friend and have words of comfort for his dear wife and my friend Maria and his children. Grieving is private but also shared when you love and loose someone. I am comforted in knowing that Dwight, my husband, and the others who called each other Brother are together in heaven.

My sincere sympathy in your loss. Dwight was such a wonderful person. I came in contact with him through the Edwards. One time he was in Rhode Island I was feeling quite down as I had lost my husband and got talking with him. He was such an inspiration I have never forgotten it. May he rest in peace.

I loved my "little cousin" very much, He was "my buddy" as we were the closest in age. I will be forever be grateful for him taking planes, renting a car and traveling a long way to come be here for my sister, his cousin Mauri's funeral. I know he suffered in his body to do it; yet it was worth it to Him to be here for us because of the deep love He had for His family. I could share several funny stories with you, Penningtons love to laugh together. But what sticks out to me right now was Dwight's hearty laugh & his big grin, I won't forget it. He had a wonderful sense of humor. And He had a big heart. I can't tell you what it meant to me to know that He had come back to His relationship with Christ, then Graduated from Seminary and had served in ministry and was walking in his rich beautiful spiritual family inheritance. I loved seeing that continue on in his life and I know He sowed those seeds into his family's lives that will continue to grow. I remind myself that this is not the end, but the beginning for him, and that I will get to see Him again in Heaven, see that big grin, hear His ornery laugh, get another bear hug and get to tease him about His East Coast accent again. To see him whole and free from pain & get to spend eternity with Him where distance won't keep us from spending that time, and our bodies won't be fragile and in pain anymore and we can do all those things we loved to do once again. I think about what He would tell us if he could speak to us one last time, and I know that it would be that He loves us with all of His heart, and that He wants us to meet Him again In Heaven. I love you Dwight, my buddy. Thank you for your service to the Kingdom of God and to our Country. You have fought hard in every way, now play hard in Heaven full of Gods peace and joy until we get there! You will be missed by myself and all of your cousins and Pennington Family, but it won't be long until that trumpet will sound and we will have a wonderful family reunion. Please give Mauri and my Daddy huge hugs for me. Maria--please know that we are holding you, the kids and grandkids, Aunt Carol, Carrie and the entire family up in prayer. We wrap you all in the Holy Spirit and love of Jesus and are here for each and every one of You. We will be celebrating His life with you tomorrow.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Thinking of you and speaking with seriousness have never gone together in my head. Every memory I have of you is filled with laughter, silliness and a hint of watchfulness. Resume your youthful antics with those waiting for you, watch over us and protect us like you always did and rest easy knowing you raised them well and that the rest of us will laugh just a little with every tearful memory
