Dusty Wayne Foster, aged 41, passed away on January 31, 2024, in his home in Lubbock, Texas. Dusty was a disciple of Jesus Christ, a beloved husband, adoring father, and cherished son, brother, and friend.
Dusty was born on October 7, 1982, to Fred and Ronda Foster in Shawnee, Oklahoma and spent his formative years in California. After graduating high school, Dusty witnessed the September 11 attacks in New York and promptly enlisted in the Air Force. Dusty started basic training in February 2002 and served for three tours in Afghanistan, Qatar, and Iraq, providing critical infrastructure services. At the conclusion of his service, Dusty had achieved the rank of Senior Airman.
In December 2012, Dusty met Randal Wilkins and she was instantly drawn to his loving and compassionate nature. The two married in July 2015, settled in Lubbock, Texas, and adopted their son, Kipton, in October 2019. Dusty had a deep-seated love for his family and derived strength, motivation, and perseverance from them. He cherished time spent with family, particularly a magical trip to Disneyland with his brother Toby and their respective families.
Dusty was baptized in November 2015 and together, Randal and Dusty sharpened each other more into the image of Jesus. People who met Dusty were transformed by his patience, hardworking, and humble spirit. He served as part of the Methodist Men ministry of Wolfforth Methodist Church and there was never a job too small or too insignificant.
Dusty worked with CHS, transporting chemicals and other agricultural supplies to farmers in the Texas Panhandle. During his downtime, Dusty loved being outside or working with his hands. His various woodworking and metalworking projects decorate his home as tributes to both his craftsmanship and ingenuity.
Dusty began his fight with melanoma in May 2020, and the cancer quickly progressed throughout his body. Unwilling to accept a pessimistic prognosis, Dusty fought to buy life’s most precious commodity, time. Dusty proudly defied odds for numerous years, remaining relentlessly optimistic to the very end. Despite internal physical struggles, constant treatments, and the ails that accompany both, his quiet strength allowed those around him to forget and sometimes even question the prognosis.
Those who knew Dusty consider it an honor to have journeyed with him. His diligent and humble spirit is survived here on earth by his wife Randal, his son Kipton (4), his mother and father Fred and Ronda Foster, his brother and sister-in-law Toby Foster and Corine Foster and their children Hayden and Tatum, sister Ranai Foster and her children Jake and Carson, father- and mother-in-law Tommy and Barbara Wilkins, and brother- and sister-in-law Jeremy and Maddie Wilkins and their daughter Margo.
