Dorothy McDaniel

Dorothy McDaniel was born September 28, 1930 in Evansville, IN. She graduated from Central High School in Evansville and Lockyear’s College. She married B. H. McDaniel on May 16, 1953.

She began work for Weight Watchers as a lecturer in 1971, and retired as Area Manager in 1992. Mrs. McDaniel was a charter member of both St. Mark Presbyterian Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church. She served as an Elder and Clerk of the Session of Covenant.

Mrs. McDaniel had served as President of Newcomer’s Club, Vice President of Metropolitan Club, Secretary of the Lubbock chapter of AARP, and Vice President of the Lubbock JayCee Wives Club. She was elected to the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature in 1998. She was a member of the Lubbock Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B. H. McDaniel and is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Thomson of Lubbock and Christina Linker of Carrollton, TX; son, William of Austin; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Culley of Evansville, IN; and brother, Dr. Gerald Culley of Bear, DE.

Dorothy McDaniel passed away on June 6, 2018. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, 10 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Lubbock, Texas.
