Dr. Donald Oberleas passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017. Donald was born February 14, 1933 to Chester and Lora Oberleas in Sheridan, Indiana. He married Mary Darlene Steves January 30, 1955, they divorced in 1975. On April 14, 1990, Donald married, Leole Dunn Clark in Lubbock, Texas, who preceded him in death on April 11, 2011.
Donald earned his Bachelor of Science from Purdue University; Master of Science from University of Kentucky; and PHD from University of Missouri. He is Professor Emeritus from Texas Tech University. His career also included research chemist at Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Professor, Chairman University of Kentucky, and Assistant Professor Wayne State University, Detroit. He was also a veteran with the United States Army serving our country from 1956 to 1958.
Survivors include his children, Steven Daniel Oberleas and wife, Sheri; Michael David Oberleas and wife, Ann; and Linda Diane Henthorn; stepdaughter, Denise McWatters; grandchildren, David Oberleas and wife, Kate; Joshua Oberleas and fiancé, Tess; Amanda Clow and husband, Cody; Erin Henthorn, and Emily Henthorn; great-grandchildren, Lucas Oberleas, Gavin Oberleas and Macey Clow; siblings, Eugene Oberleas, John Oberleas, and Pearl Purvis.
His parents, Chester Carter and Lora Anne Oberleas, preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions are welcome and the family suggests St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
