Dewey Allen Scott was born on October 13, 1942, in Norman, Oklahoma, Dewey was the son of the late Walter and Lela (Greene) Scott.
Dewey grew up in Lubbock and graduated from Lubbock High School. Following graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served proudly. Following his military discharge, Dewey worked at Nubro Machine before starting to work for Texas Instruments. He was the machine shop manager for over three decades before TI closed their plant here in Lubbock. He opened his own machine shop here in Lubbock until his retirement in 2017.
Outside of work, Dewey’s true joy came from spending time with his family. Family vacations were a priority for him, whether it was adventuring to the mountains or enjoying the serene shores of Padre Island or spending time at the blackjack table laughing and taking the casino’s money in Las Vegas. They created countless cherished memories that will be treasured for years to come.
In his free time, Dewey developed a passion for woodworking, pouring his heart and talent into creating beautiful pieces. His craftsmanship was a reflection of his meticulous nature and dedication to his craft. He was an avid reader and had a passion for history, you could always find him at the public library or at Barnes & Noble with a book in hand.
Dewey is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra Scott; his adoring daughter, Lisa Scott; his devoted son Kevin Scott; caring daughter-in-law Jami Scott; and his precious grandchild, Wyatt Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Garvin Scott and Rodney Flenniken, and a sister, Kay Hennessey.
