The family of Dedra Vickers will celebrate her life of 46 years at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021, at the Church on the Rock-South Campus. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She passed on Friday, April 2, 2021. The service will be recorded and uploaded to this page when available. We invite you to sign her virtual guestbook, and download her memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing.Dedra was born in Odessa, Texas, on May 31, 1974. She went to heaven on April 2, 2021, at the age of 46. Dedra graduated high school from Odessa High in 1993 and a week later married her husband Jason Vickers on June 12, 1993. In 2000 they moved to Lubbock with their two children Holley and Kyle. As a busy mother and housewife, she decided to expand her education and attended Lubbock Christian University. After attending LCU, she was accepted into the Respiratory Program at South Plains College. She graduated with an Associates’ degree in applied science in 2008.Dedra’s career started out working for the local hospitals over the next few years. As other opportunities were presented to her, she worked with home medical supply companies where she provided equipment and education to the patients’ homes. But she had a passion for pediatrics which led her to further her education and become a Certified Dental Assistant at Double T Smiles. As time went on, Dedra was again presented with a stronger calling to work back in the health field with children that were placed on ventilation machines, where she then would be able to educate and provide equipment through her respiratory license.Shortly after COVID hit, she decided to go back to being a homemaker and help her daughter as she was expecting her first grandchild Hudson.During the summer months, she loved to plant flowers and a small garden that kept her occupied, along with taking care of her bulldogs. She likes going on vacations up to the mountains in her RV around Red River, NM. There she would sometimes fish, but mostly her deal was going around all the local shops and buying whatever she liked. Over the last months, she enjoyed family and watching her grandson Hudson grow as a baby into a toddler. Dedra never went a day without telling her family how much she loved them and showed her strong faith in God.Survivors include her husband, Jason Vickers; their children, Holley and Kyle Vickers; grandchildren, Hudson Vickers; parents, Dennis and Connie Vestal; brother, Scott Vestal.
