Curtis grew up in Clovis, NM. Throughout his childhood and into adulthood, summers were spent working on his grandfather’s farm in Portales, NM. This molded his work ethic into the hard worker he was throughout his life. After graduating from Clovis High School, he attended New Mexico State University before joining the United States Navy and serving at the end of the Vietnam war.Returning to civilian life, Curtis met and married Benna, the love of his life. They had two children, Brent and Jennifer. Curtis began his career with Southwestern Public Service Company as a meter reader. During his 39-year career, he steadily worked his way up through the company, ultimately to the role of Information Analyst with Xcel Energy. Curtis also continued his education during those earlier years to earn his bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM.God, family, and church were the most important things in Curtis’s life. He served faithfully in every church he attended and often served in multiple roles. Curtis also loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling and camping in their RV. He especially loved camping with family and always looked forward to calling bingo at family reunion trips.Becoming a grandfather was one of his favorite roles in life. He loved to spend time with his grandkids and kept the highway warm driving between Lubbock and Dallas. The grandkids always looked forward to cuddling, playing, and getting tickled by grandad. They also loved his pancakes and asked for them as often as possible while visiting.Survivors include his wife, Benna Corder; their children, Brent Corder and wife Kristi, and Jennifer Corder; grandchildren, Allison Corder, Abigail Corder, and Peyton Corder; and siblings, Henry Corder and wife Sherry; and Cecilia Maenle and husband Michael.
