Constance (Connie) Draper Smith, (79), passed away on April 29, 2024.
She was born, March 20, 1945, in Oakland, California, to Richard and Catharine Smith.
Connie was a 1963 graduate of Monterey H.S. in Lubbock Texas and then the U of Miami, Florida where she obtained a BS in Psychology and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She lived in Miami for 7.5 years and had one daughter, Nicole. Connie worked in her chosen field of Psychology in the Miami area before moving back to Lubbock in 1975 with her daughter, Nicole. She received her Masters and Doctorate in Psychology from Texas Tech U. She set up her private practice in Lubbock as a Psychologist and worked in the field until retirement in 2020. She developed a passion for dogs and in particular, the giant German breed, Leonberger.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Catharine Smith.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Nicole Loughlin, son-in-law Robert Loughlin, her brother, Richard (Rick) Smith and his wife, Jeannie, her sister Janet Smith, nephew Justin Smith and niece Lauren Howell and her husband Preston Howell and sister Angela Schindler and her husband, Alex Schindler and Connie’s favorite dog, Equinox (Noxie).
She was dearly loved by her family, her friends and the many patients that she served in Lubbock and the surrounding communities.
A memorial service to celebrate Connie’s life will be held at Connie’s home in Lubbock at 402 N. Xenia Ave. on May 18th at 2:00. Upon request of the family, please dress casual and if possible, wear “Teal” colors to highlight Ovarian Cancer. Thank you.
