Constance (Connie) Draper Smith, (79), passed away on April 29, 2024.

She was born, March 20, 1945, in Oakland, California, to Richard and Catharine Smith.

Connie was a 1963 graduate of Monterey H.S. in Lubbock Texas and then the U of Miami, Florida where she obtained a BS in Psychology and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She lived in Miami for 7.5 years and had one daughter, Nicole. Connie worked in her chosen field of Psychology in the Miami area before moving back to Lubbock in 1975 with her daughter, Nicole. She received her Masters and Doctorate in Psychology from Texas Tech U. She set up her private practice in Lubbock as a Psychologist and worked in the field until retirement in 2020. She developed a passion for dogs and in particular, the giant German breed, Leonberger.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Catharine Smith.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Nicole Loughlin, son-in-law Robert Loughlin, her brother, Richard (Rick) Smith and his wife, Jeannie, her sister Janet Smith, nephew Justin Smith and niece Lauren Howell and her husband Preston Howell and sister Angela Schindler and her husband, Alex Schindler and Connie’s favorite dog, Equinox (Noxie).

She was dearly loved by her family, her friends and the many patients that she served in Lubbock and the surrounding communities.

A memorial service to celebrate Connie’s life will be held at Connie’s home in Lubbock at 402 N. Xenia Ave. on May 18^th at 2:00. Upon request of the family, please dress casual and if possible, wear “Teal” colors to highlight Ovarian Cancer. Thank you.

I love you mom

My mother was my person in life.. the one I looked up too , the one I shared my stresses with and the one person who never judged me. Mom loved me unconditionally. Because of my mom I achieved so many things and I hope she knew that. My mother impacted so many lives and I will miss her every day. I love you more than anything mom. Rest in peace my sweet mom ❤️

Connie was my sister in law and friend for 45-50 years. Connie was one of the strongest women I have ever met. We shared our lives with each other almost everyday. Connie touched so many peoples lives. We are going to miss her loving and sweet personality everyday.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Connie touched so many lives in the very best way. I’m grateful I got the chance to know her as both a colleague and a friend. We spent many Friday afternoons laughing and talking about her latest fashion finds! She loved her family tremendously and spoke of them often. We will all miss her!

To The Family, I didn’t have the opportunity to meet Connie, but I was lucky to have the opportunity to meet my dear “Seester” Nicole. It is evident by what a beautiful, loving person my Sister Nicole is, that Connie was someone special. I can see from reading her obituary and from stories Nicole has shared that Connie was a strong hardworking woman. She brought into this world one of my favorite people in life.
