Clyde C. Bishop was born on January 6, 1932, in Laird Hill, Texas and grew up in Wink, Texas. Clyde attended North Texas State University before being drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from the Army, Clyde completed his bachelor’s degree in business from North Texas State University and went on to receive his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas. Clyde practiced law in Odessa from 1958 until his retirement in 1992, and was a partner with Childs and Bishop Law Office. On February 23, 1980, he married Joyce Brenholtz in Odessa, Texas. In 1986, they bought a home in Ruidoso and enjoyed many months of the year there. Clyde was a member of the Texas Trial Lawyer Association, the Odessa Bar Association Grievance Committee and was a Mason. He enjoyed golf, reading and traveling all over the world. He and Joyce moved to Lubbock in 1997, to be closer to family while still spending time between Lubbock and Ruidoso.He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; a daughter, Holly Boatwright, step-son, David and Jo Beth Brenholtz of Lubbock, and step-daughter, Carol and Rev. James H. Puryear of Venice, FL; seven grandchildren, John Brenholtz, Amy Davis and husband, Tobin, Brian, Shane, Benjamin, Amanda and John Boatwright; two great-grandsons, Connor Brenholtz and Turner Davis; and a brother, Danny Bishop and wife, Peggy, of Porter.
