Obituary

On July 3, 1947 Claudette Patricia Ann Barnes was born to her parents Melvin and Rosemary Barnes of Jackson Mississippi. Claudette attended Lanier High School in Jackson prior to relocating to Visalia, California, with her mother and infant daughter in 1965.

Claudette was known to her family and friends as “Chris Ann.”

Our Mother, a homemaker was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She also had an unwavering faith in God and was a long-time member of the House of Love in Tulare, California. She was very involved with her church and was a Sunday school teacher, Usher, and member of the choir.

“Our Mother would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call with an offer she couldn’t refuse for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time, “She will let Sista and all of our departed family know we love and miss them”.  Her new mission takes her to a glorious place where there is no more sickness, pain, sorrow, or heartache. Music, laughter, and love are always guaranteed. She left detailed instructions to her children to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed.”

The Men in her life: Her first love and high school sweetheart was Benjamin Staches. They had one daughter. The marriage to Sonny Logan her first husband, created two sons and two daughters. Another love in her life was Samuel Lenox and they had one daughter. Her second marriage was to the Love of her Life, Johnny Foster.

Over several past years she held numerous positions with companies like Ruiz Foods, Southern Manor, and Lubbock State School. Lastly becoming a wonderful caretaker for her family and friends.

Our Mother leaves to cherish her memories, her children; Jacqulyn Staches-Steverson; Michael Logan, Cassandra Evans; Steven Logan; Stephanie Logan; and Misty Lenox all of Lubbock, Texas; son-in-law, Geroyce Steverson; daughter-in-law, Tanisha Logan; grandchildren, Damedric Steverson, Alana Evans, Lashyra Steverson, Elandra Watley, Devani Logan, Jovante’ Mosley, Tiana Logan, Saivonon Burton, Erykah Burton, and Christopher Steverson; and six great-grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends.
