Chuck’s life began with humble beginnings, instilled with a strong work ethic from an early age. He tended to his family’s land, animals, and racehorses with dedication before graduating from Lubbock High School and later completing his education at Draughon’s Business College.
Over a remarkable career spanning more than 50 years, Chuck made a mark in the painting industry, leaving his artistic touch on numerous homes, buildings, and historical projects across Texas. His craftsmanship can be admired in iconic landmarks such as the Dallas County Records building and the State Capitol of Texas.
Chuck was known not only for his professional achievements but also for his tall stature, handsome charm, artistic talents, athletic prowess, and melodic voice often likened to Elvis Presley. In his leisure time, he found joy in golfing, music, nurturing his garden and yard, and caring for his beloved turtles. He was incredibly competitive and loved playing all types of games.
Chuck’s life was shaped by countless remarkable moments, but none as significant as the day he met the love of his life, Karen, in Earth, Texas. Their enduring love story culminated in marriage on September 16, 1972, at Karen’s parents’ home where they first crossed paths. Their marriage marked the beginning of a beautiful chapter filled with love, laughter, and their son, Jason. Jason was blessed with two children, Lilah, and Nixon, who brought immense joy to Chuck’s life. He adored them; sharing in their laughter, playing games, watching sporting events, and creating precious memories filled with joy and love.
Chuck’s life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to family. He is survived by his loving wife Karen, sons Hutch, Paul, and Jason Haley, along with seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, and his siblings. His warmth extended far beyond blood ties, as he leaves behind a great many beloved sons and daughters-in-laws, and a close-knit community of golfing buddies and dear friends. Chuck’s heart was forever touched by his beloved daughter Lyndee, who preceded him in death.
