Carl James Buck, born 7/11/1932 went home to be with our heavenly father and countless loved ones that have gone before him on 11/12/2023.
A loving and dedicated husband of 68 years to Doris Latain Garth Buck, a father to three sons, Mackie Joe Buck, Jackie Ray Buck, and James Dale Buck. Grandfather to Cody Buck, Cory Buck, Devannie Buck, Alysia Buck, and Jordyn Buck, and Great Grandfather to Micah Buck, Grayson Buck, Brayden Bradley, Benjamin Bradley, Abbi Bradley, Liam Surratt, Ashton White, and Brelea Buck.
Carl was a loving, kind and giving father and grandfather who was in large part the glue that held us all together, shaped us into loving, kind, and caring people. Known as BUCK by many friends, co-workers, and fellow Navy men from his time in the service. Daddy to his children, and Papaw to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was loved by all!
Funny, quick-witted, and always there when any one of us needed him, his physical presence will be greatly missed. We are comforted that without a doubt he is each one of our guardian angels from his last breath until we each get to meet him again.
Born at home in Fieldton, Texas he was one of 5 children from parents Aaron Ray Buck, and Iona Dreadin Buck. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Betty Lou Buck, and Billy Ray Buck. Norma Sauve his youngest sister resides in Albuquerque New Mexico, and brother Melvin Tull who resides in Arkansas.
Carl served in the United States Navy during the time of the Korean War and was always a very proud veteran, happy to tell stories of his time on the USS Whitehurst.
Upon discharge from the Navy, he was introduced by his friend D.T. Garth to his soon-to-be wife of 68 years Doris Latain Buck who resides in Shallowater, Texas. Carl was Latain’s very own Prince Charming for each one of those 68 years, and not a day went by that he did not profess his deep love for her.
He worked as a sheet metal foreman for Anderson & Bigham, and then Kimball Gin Machinery until he retired at age 75 building cotton gin equipment and oil mill equipment.
To us, there is no greater man than him. We will celebrate his life and love for us on December 7, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel from 7-9 p.m. as a private gathering of his friends and family. All that knew him and were touched by him in some way, are welcome to attend.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors that cared for him so compassionately in his final days at University Medical Center.
