Brian Edward Jenkins was born on November 15, 1960, in Poughkeepsie, NY to Richard and Annette Jenkins. He grew up in Pleasant Valley, NY and graduated from Arlington High School in 1979.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduation as a Law Enforcement Specialist. He was stationed in Gila Bend, AZ, Aviano, Italy, and Wichita Falls, TX. After separating from the Air Force, Brian moved to Lubbock where he became a City of Lubbock Police Officer in 1984. While working as a police officer, he attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing. He graduated in December 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. In January 1992, he left the police department and began working as a Registered Nurse in the emergency room at what was then Lubbock General Hospital, now University Medical Center. He eventually became a relief charge nurse. In January 2001 he transferred to the Radiology Department where he remained until medically retiring fall 2023.

He raised two children from his first marriage. In 2017 he married his loving wife, Jennifer, his from now on, and gained two wonderful bonus stepsons. Brian enjoyed spending time with his family, skiing, camping, hiking and the outdoors. He was an avid Red Raider fan holding season tickets for many years in football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his uncles, George Lawrence and Arthur Ostrander; his aunt, Linda Cook, and sister-in-law, Beth Jenkins.

Brian is survived by his wife Jennifer; daughter Michelle; son Andrew; stepsons, Tyler Eade (Alison) and Tanner Eade; grandchildren Jon Mykel Thompson. Helena Thompson, Aireus Jenkins, and Annalise Eade; brothers, Richard T. Jenkins, Jr. and David (Jenny) Jenkins; aunts, Jeanette Ostrander and Joy Godin. Uncle Chris Cook, several cousins, nieces, grand-nieces, and a grand-nephew. He will also be missed by multiple extended family members, several close military buddies, and many friends.

Brian Edward Jenkins, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

I had the honor and privilege of working with Brian and Jennifer to help navigate his medical retirement. His spirit has had a lasting impact on me.

I’m so sorry to hear about Brian’s passing. I worked with Brian for 28 years in the EC and Radiology at UMC. He was an excellent Nurse, friend and a huge fan of the New York Jets and Red Raiders. Brian will definitely be missed by Family and Friends. Brian, May you Rest In Heavenly Peace.

I am so sorry to hear about Brian. I had the honor to work with Brian for many years, and was so happy for you both, when you married. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I knew Brain from UMC. Worked together several years. What a humble, kind, and wonderful man. You will be missed dearly. We always talked sports. Will miss seeing you, friend, and you walking that UMC hall with a bright smile on your face. I know your at peace. Rest our friend! Prayers to the family and all our UMC family.

My condolences to Brian's family and loved ones. He will be so missed by so many; friends, co-workers and patients. I remember just how well he took care of my mother at UMC. Here was this tall fella with my mother, who was hardly 5 feet, and spoke very limited English. Yet you made her feel so safe and comfortable by just gentle gestures. Thank you, Brian, you did so much good during your time here on Earth!

I would see Brian almost every morning when I would leave from my overnight shift. He was always happy and cheerful as I spoke to him in passing. I wasn't sure where he worked in the hospital, but he wore same scrub color. I am very sorry for the loss of one of our employees! My condolences to his family and of course his friends and co-workers!
