Bobby Ray Copeland passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 86 years on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Southcrest Baptist Church.
Bobby Ray was born on March 10, 1931 to Loran and Lois Gillespie Copeland in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On June 11, 1954, Bobby married the love of his life, Glenda Shaw in Lubbock, Texas. He was drafted into the Army in September 1954 and in February 1955 he was sent to Germany for almost two years where he used his training as a Radio Communication Specialist. Upon his return to the states he resumed his trade as an electrician. In 1964 he started Copeland Electric where he served the Lubbock Community for over 50 years. He was a mentor to many men who said he was the smartest man that they had ever known because there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or troubleshoot. He was a longtime member of Southcrest Baptist where he enjoyed running sound, photography, and serving others. Always happy, a joker, and never met a stranger. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and being out on the lake. He was a joy and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Known affectionately as “Buddy” by his family, we love you and will miss you dearly.
