Bobbie Jean Smith Castleman Eads

Bobbie Jean Smith Castleman Eads was born December 1^st, 1930 to Ray and Elsie Smith in Camden Arkansas.   She was the 5^th of 15 children.   She married Milton Castleman on September 4^th, 1947.   Together they reared 4 children until his passing in 1988.

Jean married Clive Eads on August 7^th, 1994.   They made their home in Kermit, Tx until moving to Lubbock in 2004 to be near her daughter Betty.   Clive passed in 2011.   Jean was a member of Lubbock’s First Assembly of God church.   She is preceded in death by her husbands, parents, 7 brothers, 3 sisters, and 1 great-grandchild.

Survivors include her sons Milton Castleman (Emily) of Austin Tx, Kevin Castleman (Kerri) of Schulenburg Tx, daughters Carol Fortner (Lonnie) of Paris Tx, and Betty Beaver (Glenn) of Lubbock Tx.  Surviving siblings include brothers Donald Smith, Ronald Smith, and Larry Smith and sister Betty Jones.   She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Jean gave her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ at the young age of 5 and faithfully served Him in service beginning at the age of 15 with a deep and enduring faith.  Throughout her lifetime this service ranged from teaching young boys and girls in Sunday School classes to serving as Women’s Ministry Director, Youth Leader, VBS Director, Church Secretary, and filling the pulpit on occasion in relief of the Pastor.  Her legacy lives in the many lives of those she touched and those she helped lead to Christ.

Service Info:

Jean’s family will host a gathering of family and friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2023, immediately followed by a service to celebrate her life of 92 years at First Assembly of God. There will be a graveside service at the City of Kermit Cemetery Friday, March 31, 2023, at 10:00 AM.  Please find the service broadcasting schedule, floral purchasing, and an area to share stories of Jean with her family here on this page.
