Blake J. Boyd was called home by our sweet Lord April 8th, 2023.  He spent the last several years fighting lung cancer, although he never smoked a day in his life.

Blake was a husband, a father, a grandfather, and an inspiration to so many.  He inspired others through his strong faith in God, his walk with Jesus, his enduring love for his family, and his zeal for living life.

Originally from Crosbyton, Blake was born January 8, 1962, in Lubbock.  Blake is a graduate of Texas Tech University and The SMU School of Banking.  Blake began his banking career as a state banking examiner and later became the President/CEO of Citizens Bank in Slaton.  In 2012, Blake became President of Peoples Bank in Lubbock.  Blake served the community his entire life.  He has had the opportunity to serve on the UMC Foundation Board and several other committees at Lubbock Country Club and other committees in the banking industry throughout his career.

Blake and Felicia have three children, Linsey Milligan, Blake Swanner, and Bryson Boyd, all of Slaton.  Their strong family bonds produced countless memories and most importantly the memories spent watching grandkids swim in their backyard.

His other life passions included stock showing, playing golf, watching the Dallas Cowboys, the Kanas City Chiefs, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.  Blake enjoyed raising show calves and helping his kids show pigs and steers at all the state stock shows.  His biggest life passion was his family, grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews who adored their Pop.

Blake is survived by his lifelong love, Felicia, and his adoring children Linsey and husband Aaron, Blake and his wife Kristen and Bryson.  His grandchildren, Raeley, Blaikley, Griffin, and Shepard. His mom Beverly Moore and her husband Bob of Cisco, his father Bill Boyd and his wife Deborah of Lubbock, his brothers Byron and wife Carol of Lubbock, Blair and his wife Tani of Houston, and Bobby Joe and his wife Kara of Lubbock.

The visitation will be at Lake Ridge Chapel on Monday, April 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Lubbock, Texas on Tuesday, April 11th, at 10:00 am.  Please visit this page for the broadcasting schedule, and an area to share stories of Blake with his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has designated Southland Cemetery Association, (P.O Box 262 Slaton, Texas 79364) for memorial donations made in his honor.

I will forever be so thankful and blessed by Blake Boyd’s influence in my life. Mr. Boyd gave me the opportunity to work at Citizens State Bank while I was in college and was the greatest mentor I will ever have. To this day I seeked Blake’s advice on every career choice I made. I remember sitting in his office asking him for advice when it came time to declare a major at Texas Tech. Before I graduated I thought I would stay and get a masters and he said waist of time go work for the DOB it’s like a PHD in banking. I thought bank examiner sounded boring but I trusted his advice and it was the best decision ever. Blake put in a good word for me and I stayed with the TX DOB and got commissioned just as he told me to. I followed his advice in so many situations and so thankful and blessed by his kindness and direction. Some great memories I have was how honored and cool I felt every day Blake invited me to clock out as a young dumb teller and join him and the executive officers to lunch. I got to sit at the table with the big dogs and I felt so lucky to be there. No telling how many chicken fried steaks I owe Blake Boyd and Jim Tidwell. Most Presidents and CEOs don’t make time for college kids but Blake was so helpful and I wouldn’t be where I am without him. I know he is living out Gods everlasting life and can breathe easy now. We will miss you down here. Thanks so much Blake for all you did for me. I’ll see you at the pearly gates one day.

Blake and I shared the same birth day. Just not the same year. !! When Homer and I saw Blake at the Country Club or wherever he always had a smile on his face and acted like he was so happy to see us. As we him. When Homer was diagnosed with cancer we talked to Blake about his treatment. His only concern was for Homer. Blake was loved by many and will be missed by hundreds.
