Bill was born on May 17, 1940, to Carl and Ruth Rychener in Springfield, Ohio. The family moved from Ohio to Harlingen, Texas when Bill was very young. He attended schools in Harlingen and graduated from Harlingen High School in 1958. After graduation, he served his country joining the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Harlingen and began working for Plains Cotton Cooperative where he was trained as a cotton classer. For the next 50 years, he worked for various cotton companies in the area until his retirement in 2004, where he was again working for Plains Cotton Co-op. Bill met and married his "bride" of 51 years, Glenda, in 1965, in Harlingen, Texas. They moved from Harlingen to Lubbock in 1966, and have called it home since that time.Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Noah Griffin. Survivors include his wife, Glenda; his daughter, Tessa Griffin and husband Jarrad; two grandchildren, Brendan and Ethan; his beloved and sweet puppy dog, Leo; and a brother, Danny Rychener of Houston. We want to thank the many doctors, nurses, and therapists at Covenant Medical Center and Trust Point Rehab for their diligent efforts to make Bill "whole" again. It was not in God's plan. We will miss you always husband, father, and son. Until we meet again, in our heavenly home.Memorial contributions are welcome and the family suggests a charity of choice..
