The family of Betty Jo Hudson will host a gathering of family and friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Services to celebrate her life of 94 years are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel with graveside to follow in the Morton Memorial Cemetery. Betty began her working years as a secretary to the County Extension Agent in Cochran County. She was then the secretary to the manager of Production Credit. She also worked for Cochran Power and light. She was appointed county Treasurer in the mid-1970s. She sought election and remained as County Treasurer of Cochran County until she was 65.
Russell and Betty were loyal and faithful members of First Missionary Baptist Church, Morton, Texas.
Betty was quiet in her demeanor, yet her strength was known by all. She served faithfully without wanting or needing recognition. She was so loyal and she loved fiercely. Russell and Betty together left a legacy of service, sacrifice, loyalty, deep love for one another, and most importantly love for our Heavenly Father.
Betty Jo is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo (Jerry) Newton; son, Thomas Russell “Tommy” (Linda) Hudson, Jr.; grandchildren, Sharon Holland “Holly” Landess, Kent Houston (Karrie) Hudson, Jason Cadenhead, Michelle Borchardt, Dacia (Josh) Hamby, and Raina (Tanner) Turner; great-grandchildren, Tyler Landess, Thomas (Skylar) Landess, Natalee Hudson, Sadie Hudson, Leya Hamby, Lake Hamby, Magnolia Turner, Taos Turner, and Evergreen Jo Turner.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Russell Sr.; parents, Robert L. and Mary Louise (Jamison) Harrison; sister, Mavis Bybee; and brother, Sidney Harrison.
