Bennie was born in Garza County on a rural farm to Jim and Annie Beavers on September 29, 1926 and died January 27, 2017. She was the youngest of two children. Later the family moved to Camp Springs, Texas where her parent owned and operated a small general store.
She attended and was graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, Texas. When he older brother, Jerry Beavers paved a trail to Texas Tech, Bennie soon followed. There she met her husband to be George Sealy. WWII was at its height and George went off to war. Upon his return they were married on October 15, 1948.
The young couple began a family in Borden County where George was the County Agent for six years. Now with two young girls, Sidney and Laura the family moved to Lynn County where they farmed for 35 years near New Home. They completed their family with another daughter, Carol, soon after arriving in New Home.
Bennie was known for her sewing for the girls, bridge playing, singing, dancing and her fun personality. She supported her girls in all their endeavors and sports. She was known to go toe to toe with a referee if they failed to make the “right” call.
She and George belonged to the Slaton Senior citizen dance club, the South Plains Drifters travel trailer club and enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Bennie was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, belonged to the New Home United Methodist Church and a good friend to many.
