Bennie Jean Lubke, age 70, of Lubbock, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX on Monday, January 29, 2024, after a short but hard-fought illness. She was surrounded by friends and family throughout her toughest battle, she was at peace and was ready to meet her Maker.
Bennie was born on August 17, 1953, in Brownwood, Texas, and raised by her parents Joye and George Gehring. Bennie grew up in San Angelo and graduated from Central High School in 1971. She then received her Cosmetology License. Bennie taught Cosmetology at San Angelo Central High School and Howard College, as well as operating several beauty salons during her 50-year career before retiring to Lubbock in 2021 to live with her daughters.
Bennie’s talents and interests were many, including playing the piano, organ and other instruments, painting, and drawing, singing, square and tap dancing, fishing, watching Texas Tech baseball, and volunteering. After moving to Lubbock, her greatest joy was supporting and volunteering at High Point Village. She loved seeing Leslee thrive there and be surrounded by so many great friends and a staff that is most certainly family.
Bennie was strong in her Christian faith. She protected her girls to the very end. She was feisty, fun-loving, and fearless, with a heart of gold. She was a giver, a talker. She never met a stranger. She was a friend to many, and welcomed all as if they were her family. She will be greatly missed by all who know her.
Bennie is survived by her daughters: Lyndee Kiesling and Leslee Kiesling of Lubbock, Lindsay Constantine (Bobby) of Fredericksburg, and six grandchildren; her sister, Allison Marlene Gehring and brother-in-law Dan Khanna of Arlington; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved pets, Duke and Hank.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William Benjy and Roxie Allison of Santa Anna; parents, Joye and George Gehring of San Angelo; ever-loving aunt, Mary Louise Baker of Kings Mountain, NC; and devoted husband, Larry Kiesling of Eden.
In lieu of flowers, Bennie requested memorials be made to High Point Village, where the donation can be used for something that was the biggest blessing in her life. https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E156310&id=11
