On October 26, 1938, Barbara was born to the late Hayden and Elvie Mae (Barrett) Simmons in Lamesa, TX. From there, Barbara was able to enjoy many different parts of Texas with her family. Her father was always able to find work in various places around the San Antonio area. She would tell stories of her and her brother Bill going everywhere and exploring. Gary was too small at the time. They finally settled in Odessa, where Barbara grew up. She then married Bob McNeil, and they began their life in Odessa. Later they divorced, and Barbara moved with her children to Lubbock. She took a job at B & M Vending. Barbara was one of the first women to have a route with the vending company. Later she began her career at St. Mary’s Hospital, followed by 27 years as a Unit Secretary for Covenant Hospital. She enjoyed her family and friends, as well as traveling and looking at scenery.

Survivors include her children, Kim Taylor (daughter) and husband Terrel and Corey McNeil (son) and wife Joan; their father, Bob McNeil; grandchildren, Dalton McNeil, Tabitha Taylor, and Dyllan McNeil; brothers, Gary Simmons and Bill Simmons (deceased) and survived by his wife, Kay Simmons.
