The family of Barbara Ellis will celebrate her life of 92 years at 1:30 PM on Friday, April 23, 2021, at the Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She married Jess Ellis on July 7, 1946, at El Dorado, Kansas. Barbara devoted her rich life to God and His church, to her family, and to her community and friends. She served her church family, teaching Sunday School and often in-home Bible studies for 67 years. In addition, she sang in the church choir for 65 years. She worked at JC Penney for 25 years. Barbara’s home offered her family a safe and loving hub. Around the table, food, conversation, and celebrations gave all who gathered there the peace of mind that only a mother’s love can provide. Barbara committed 26 years of service to the Exodus Prison Ministry communicating encouragement through Bible studies and letters to men and women in prison. Barbara lived a life of service for others. She was loved and respected by all.Survivors include their children, Randy (Sandy) Ellis, Vicki (Tom) Kidwell, of Lubbock, Jess (Terry) Ellis, of Fairview; grandchildren, Heather Hoffman, Tim Ellis, Grant Ellis, John Kidwell, Jo Ellis, Jessica Mason, Amy Cooper; great-grandchildren, Matthew Hoffman, Steven Hoffman, Olivia Ellis, Emma Ellis, Ella Kidwell, and Laney Ellis. She was preceded in death by father, James McCommas; mother, Lillian McCommas; husband, Jess Ellis, Sr.; grandchild, David Kidwell.
